All of San Luis Potosí’s coffee grows in the Huasteca: eight municipalities, led by Xilitla with 37% of state volume. These are plots held by Teenek and Nahua ejido farmers, of 2 to 15 hectares, with low yields — 0.61 tonnes per hectare in 2024 against a national average of 1.60 — planted since the mid-19th century with material brought from Veracruz.
